Durgapur Station : ウィキペディア英語版 | Durgapur Station
Durgapur ((ベンガル語: দুর্গাপুর)) is a railway station in the city of Durgapur in the Indian state of West Bengal. == History == During the mid-nineteenth century, M/s Carr, Tagore & Company started transporting coal from Narayankuri Ghat on the Damodar River to Kolkata, erstwhile Calcutta, from the Raniganj Coalfields. Since the flow of water in the Damodar river was irregular, supplies were disrupted again and again. Seeing the golden opportunity to capture and handle the lucrative and economically-feasible coal transportation operaritons in the Raniganj Coalfields, the then East Indian Railway, started extending the railway tracks that had been laid between Howrah and Hooghly to Raniganj area by 1855 and up to Asansol by July 1863.
